Yuththa Kalam is a Kalari Adimurai martial arts academy based in Pondicherry, India. Our Apps are used exclusively by enrolled students, their parents/guardians, instructors, and academy administrators to manage classes, attendance, fees, and communications.

Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate the academy management system.

How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate your identity using one-time passwords (OTP) sent via WhatsApp
- Record and deliver voice message feedback from instructors on student practice videos
- Display your profile, name, and photograph within the academy app
- Enable instructors to review practice videos submitted by students
- Track class attendance and generate progress reports
- Manage fee records and process payments via Razorpay
- Send push notifications about classes, leave approvals, fee reminders, and academy announcements
- Enable direct messaging between students, parents, instructors, and administrators
- Operate the academy community feed
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it for any purpose unrelated to academy operations.
Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the Apps. Each has their own privacy policy.

Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on servers hosted by Railway and is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Profile photos and videos are stored on Cloudinary's secure cloud infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- End-to-end encrypted chat messages using the Signal Protocol — message content cannot be read by anyone other than the sender and recipient, including us
- OTP-based authentication (no passwords stored)
- Access controls — users can only access their own data and data relevant to their role
- JWT-based session tokens with automatic expiry
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you leave the academy, your data is retained for a period of 2 years for record-keeping purposes (attendance history, fee records), after which it is deleted or anonymised. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
Our Apps are used within an academy context where children (students under 18) participate under parental supervision. Children's accounts are created by academy administrators and linked to a parent/guardian account. We do not knowingly collect data from children independently. Parents may contact us to review, update, or delete their child's information at any time.
Your Rights

- Delete your account and personal data
- Object to specific uses of your data
- Export your data in a portable format

Push Notifications
We send push notifications for class reminders, attendance updates, fee dues, leave approvals, and academy announcements. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's system settings. Disabling notifications does not affect your ability to use the app.
Account Deletion
To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at contact@yuththakalam.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and the phone number registered with your account. Deletion requests are processed within 7 business days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Apps after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will notify users via push notification or in-app message.
